Richard Barnett NDD FCSD
Richard was educated at Moseley Secondary School of Art in Birmingham and Birmingham College of Arts and Crafts, where he studied art and design and from where he graduated with a National Diploma in Design (Furniture). He was elected to membership of the Chartered Society of Designers (Interiors) in 1971 and was nominated to fellowship in 1986. His career in art and design led him to establish his own design practice in 1978.
Throughout his career Richard has always painted and his love of wildlife, nature and landscape is reflected in his paintings. The sketchbook plays a very important role in Richard’s art, as it is the foundation for many of his paintings. It is taken everywhere with no opportunity missed! Sketches are generally carried out in pen and ink with watercolour washes.
Richard has exhibited widely including at the RBSA Birmingham, Keele University, Stafford Guildhall and, of course, locally at Ceredigion Art Society and Aberaeron Art Society and his paintings are in many private collections.
